SENIOR YEAR CALENDAR  2004-2005

Important Dates, Events, and Reminders
This year provides an opportunity to confirm your readiness for the challenge of college. 
Be sure you are enrolled in a strong academic program for the whole year.

OCTOBER 2004

 29 - Registration* deadline for December SAT I or  II

This Month:
 -  Finalize college choices
 - Work on application essays.  Ask teachers and counselors to read essays.
 - Complete Early Decision and Early Action applications.
 - Update your "resume" - list of accomplishments, involvements, and work experiences.
 - If needed, pick up a CSS/Financial Aid PROFILE* application in your guidance office.

 

 

NOVEMBER 2004

This Month:

- Assist parents with completing CSS/Financial Aid PROFILE* for colleges that require it.
- Adhere to your school's application processing deadlines.

 

DECEMBER 2004

 4 - SAT I and SAT II test (at Ansbach)
11 - ACT test date. Register with you high school counselor 2 weeks before the test.
20 - Registration* deadline for January SAT I or II

This Month:

 -Try to finish all college applications this month.  Remember, high schools close over the holidays, so get applications done early to meet January deadlines.
 - Attend a financial aid night with your parents, at a school in your area.
 - Talk with visiting high school alumni about their college experiences.

JANUARY 2005

 1 - Students may mail a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) as soon as possible after this date
22 - SAT I and SAT II test date

This Month:
 - Visit College Board on the Web for information about financial aid.
 - Continue to research scholarship opportunities through counselors, ExPAN, libraries, and by contacting colleges directly.

 

 

FEBRUARY 2005

12 - ACT test at Ansbach.  Register 2 weeks in advance with your high school counselor.
This Month:

 - Be sure all necessary materials have been sent to your chosen colleges.
 - Don't get senioritis: colleges want to see strong second semester grades.
 - About four weeks after mailing in your FAFSA, you'll receive your SAR (Student Aid Report). Review it for accuracy.

 

MARCH 2005

25 - Registration Deadline: May SAT I & II
 

This Month:

 - Be sure colleges have received all the materials needed to make a decision.
 - Continue searching for scholarship opportunities.

APRIL 2005

9 - ACT test date. Register with your high school counselor 2 weeks before the test. 
29 - Registration Deadline: June SAT I & II

This Month:

 - Prepare for May AP Examinations, if applicable.
- Admission decisions arrive
 - Review college acceptance: perhaps revisit your top choices.
 - Review financial aid packages; talk with college financial aid officers.

 

 

MAY  2005

 7 - SAT I & II Tests (at Ansbach)
 

This Month:
 - Take AP Examinations (May), if applicable.
 - Keep up the academic momentum.
 - Notify the college you choose of your decision to attend and send deposit.
 - Notify colleges you did not choose, so they can offer admission to others.
 - Ask your secondary school to send a final transcript to the college you will attend.
 

JUNE  2005

 4 - SAT I & II Tests

End of the School Year:
 - Have your final transcript sent to your college
 - Thank teachers/counselors who wrote recommendations.
 - Finalize your summer plans

 

JULY and AUGUST 2005

Summer:
 - Work to help pay for college
 - Read and stay ready for college
 - Attend orientation meetings offered by the college.
